Mt Tremblant Resort, Québec; the Perfect Getaway

It reminds me of Queenstown, New Zealand.

Can a village be a doppelganger?

Technically, not — if you know the meaning of the word. But the similarities between Queenstown, New Zealand and Mt Tremblant resort in Québec are startling.

Tremblant is a resort a mere 90-minute drive from Montréal. Unless you have visited Queenstown, New Zealand (NZ), you wouldn’t make the connection.

I’m a kiwi gal who grew up hours from this tourist hub of NZ. After 28 years of existence there, I was uprooted to Montréal. Having visited both towns, they are like sisters in both appearance and attractions.

Although it is five kilometres away from the actual village of Mt. Tremblant, the resort is the main attraction for both local and international visitors. It thrives — and depends — on the tourist industry, as does Queenstown.

Here are seven reasons why Mt Tremblant is a perfect getaway and a taste of home in North America. I feel so lucky to have a little bit of NZ so close.

1. Both places are on lakes

Lake Wakatipu for Queenstown; Lac Tremblant for Tremblant. Their size and temperature are rather different, though.
