Where to stay, where to eat, what to do in NYC
I just returned from New York City with my family a few days ago. When I first visited NYC in 2012, we stayed in a tiny hotel a block away from Times Square. It was so small, we had to shimmy sideways to get onto the bed! This time in order to get a feel for another part of the city, we chose an apartment in Harlem. We wanted to see another neighborhood in NYC, and I wanted to go to church in Harlem on the first morning of our trip.
How we got there:
We drove from Ottawa, Ontario to Stamford, Connecticut. The drive is longer than driving through New York State, but it is more scenic. Vermont, Massachusetts, and Connecticut are full of forests and mountains. The roads aren’t very busy and quaint villages line the road. When we arrived in Stamford, we found long-term parking for US$10 per day. After parking in the multi-level garage, we walked across the covered walkway about 500 meters, bought four return tickets for US$70, and got on a direct train to Harlem.
