Snorkelling the Blue Waters of the Philippines

If you love to snorkel, the thousands of islands of the country of the Philippines is the destination you’ll have to choose. I know it’s not a highly promoted tourist destination (in Australia) but it’s a beautiful country both on land and under the sea.

I visited for only two and a half weeks last June. Yes, it was summer and very hot and humid so I spent as much time as I could in and under the water. The first week was spent with my son’s in-laws-to-be, the loveliest, friendliest, most hospitable family he could have chosen. My daughter, Stacey, and I were treated like royalty. We were given the entire upper floor of their large farmhouse which had a toilet but no shower. When Gerry, Maria’s dad, saw the difficulty I was having with the steep stairs, he installed a shower in the space of a morning. Voilà! Ensuite.
