For the last two days, while hiking in Connemara County in West Ireland, we’ve seen a lot of sheep.

On our visit to Kylemore Abbey, the tour bus driver stopped to let us feed the sheep on the way back to Galway. The white fluffy animals, adorned with red, blue, and green paint to identify to whom they belong, wander over the rugged rocky hills, eating, sleeping, lounging, and pooping.

They are interesting to watch. When we stopped to feed them, one was very aggressive pushing others out of the way to get to my husband’s hand. He instructed me on which sheep to feed — a nice plump fluffy one who wasn’t aggressive.

Eagerly, the sheep ate the feed pellets I offered it from my flat hand. Some of the sheep are vocal, baa-ing at us, and others, are silent, just following us with their eyes.

Today, we hiked on the remote Mweelrea Moutain in County Mayo. It was a tough hike and we didn’t finish what was planned for our group of eight. We did about half of what was planned. (Yes, there are lots of stories to come about this trip.)
