Our family likes to grade our vacations. The grading combines how much we enjoyed the trip and how well we did with planning. Often, as you can imagine, the two go hand in hand. Our March 2019 Universal Studios trip was a solid A. Maybe even an A+, but leaving room for improvement means we can try again. Our boys were a perfect age, we got a great package deal, our pre-planning worked well, and our parenting was on fire.

The perfect age for Universal Studios

At the time, our boys were 9 and 10 and big Harry Potter fans. We were too having read the all the books and watched all the movies together. They were at ages where they still enjoyed hanging out with us. Young enough to still be awed by things. Old enough to have the stamina for a long day running around a park. They met the height minimum for almost all the rides and didn’t require cumbersome diaper bags or strollers.

I’m not saying that these are the only ages that work. Families with young kids seemed to be having fun too. I even remarked on how little crying we heard. Many teens and young adults were also there geeking out on Harry Potter. But, it was nice to have fewer hassles or eye rolling and more exuberant joy.

A great package deal
