Brewing and stewing is what this story has been doing from the moment I booked the flights last July for a vacation I went on this past January. The place is Tenerife and it has become one of my favorite places in the world to visit.

It’s one of seven islands that are considered an archipelago called The Canary Islands, which is a territory of Spain. However, the closest mainland country is Morroco located about 200 kilometers east of Tenerife. This means lots of sun and warm temperatures all year round.

German winters mean many hours of darkness, rain, clouds, and cold weather. There are aspects of long nights and being indoors that I cherish, but I have found over the years that I benefit greatly from taking breaks during cold winter months.

Although I had heard of the Canary Islands, it wasn’t until a friend of mine from Italy suggested it as a place for me and my boyfriend to meet that I paid attention to it.

My friend said that he and his girlfriend had been there a few times. It was extremely affordable…
