Westport is the Place to be in Ireland!
Western Ireland is filled with places and adventures that many visiting the island don’t experience.
It’s been almost four months since I left for Ireland, and I cannot stop wanting to write about my experiences.
I have written stories about the entire trip, along with what it was like traveling as a gay, vegan, sober person. I thought those two were enough until the amazing memories of Westport kept coming into my mind.
When I read people’s itineraries for their upcoming trips to Ireland, they typically include time in Dublin with a possible trip to Galway and then somewhere further south.
Seldom do I see mentions of Westport or County Mayo.
Westport, County Mayo, Ireland. Westport is the third largest (by population) city in County Mayo, with a population of 6,872 per the 2022 census. It’s a small town with everything one needs for a wonderful time away from home, and it’s geographically located to make many other wonderful places super convenient to visit.
