I legitimately don’t know what to do tomorrow. I can wear whatever I want and that feels kind of weird. For the past 29 days, I’ve worn and slept in various volumes and styles of The And Counting Collection while sharing my musings here with you all.

What now?

(I’ll attempt to answer that question tomorrow, I promise.)

This past fall, GLOSSRAGS donated about 20 white And Counting tees to the families of the fallen who were gathering in Chicago for a weekend of events hosted by The Mamie Till Foundation to commemorate 60 years since Emmett’s murder. Aside from the limited edition Black Liberation colorway that comes and goes, you won’t find a white And Counting tee for sale.

There’s multiple reasons for this I suppose, one being that there’s something unsettling about these black names on many a black bodies on a white “tapestry”. It just doesn’t work for me. I’ve not been able to wrap my head around it, despite statistics showing that white tees are one of, if not the highest selling color shirt. It ain’t about the money though, and never has been.

Why is it that white symbolizes purity and black, darkness — among other things?

This tee I kept for myself out of that batch. It used to be white but after an unfortunate stain, I decided to tie-dye it on Saturday night along with a Vol. VII tank (a very camp counselor-esque thing to do). I remembered wanting to do a limited run of tie-dye tees but unfortunately the supplier didn’t quite have what I wanted.

Some ideas fly while others don’t quite get off the ground.

It happens that way sometimes.
