The Gloucester County DREAM Park is hosting the American Quarter Horse 2017 Merial AQHA Region Five Championship and NJ Quarter Horse Youth Show on June 21 through June 25.

“This sold out event is a phenomenal opportunity for the DREAM Park to showcase the therapeutic riding center and the programs it has to offer to thousands of horse lovers throughout the country,” Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger said. “This is the third year in a row the DREAM Park has been honored to host the region five show.”

“The five day regional quarter horse show is one of the biggest events to come to Gloucester County and a great way to promote tourism and show visitors from other counties and states what this County has to offer,” said Freeholder Heather Simmons, liaison to the Department of Economic Development.

The regional championships provide American Quarter horse enthusiasts a chance to test their horse-showing skills and qualify for the AQHA Level One championships in a fun and rewarding environment. During this regional championship, Wednesday, June 21, will feature a one-day event packed with a variety of classes, starting with level one amateur showmanship at 8 a.m. The regional championships offers an opportunity to gain experience in the show ring, and network with other talented riders across their region.

Region five consists of six state affiliates of the American Quarter Horse Association: Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia. Exhibitors from all six states attend and show at this show. This year, Jim Herd, the AQHA 2018 president, is the guest of honor.

This show is a good experience for any youth or adults that are just beginning to become a part of the AQHA horse show.

The event is free to spectators and all residents and visitors are encouraged to attend. The DREAM Park is located at 400 US Route 130 South, Logan Township. For questions, call (856) 241–1415, or visit www.dreamparknj.com.
