Gloucester County, located in Southern New Jersey across the Delaware River from Philadelphia, is home to nearly 300,000 residents. The agricultural, industrial and residential area is made up of two dozen eclectic municipalities, including a number of vibrant unincorporated communities. Founded in 1686, some of the earliest European settlements in the state started in Gloucester County, including Bridgeport, now located in Logan Township, and Swedesboro. The area is ripe with history, from Revolutionary War battlegrounds to 18th century architecture, and offers plenty of ways to get back to nature, boasting ecological diversity across rich farmlands, forested hiking trails and the salty banks of the Delaware.
