The Gloucester County Commission for Women and The Arc Gloucester are co-sponsoring a Parent Education Workshop dedicated to “Lifespan Advocacy Issues for Children and Adults with Autism” on Tuesday, May 16 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Sunshine Inn at Camp Sun ‘N Fun, 1036 North Tuckahoe Road, Williamstown.

“This workshop is a way for parents and caregivers of children and adults with Autism and other developmental disabilities to learn about current programs and support systems that are available,” Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger said.

“Those attending the workshop will learn how to navigate New Jersey’s current service systems and how to advocate for needed supports and services,” said Freeholder Jim Jefferson, liaison to the Commission for Women.

Adam Wilson of Hinkle, Fingles, Prior & Fischer, Attorneys at Law will be there to help parents understand the important challenges they may face as their child ages from their early years into adult life.

The workshop is free of charge and open to the public. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions, visit the provider resource tables and enjoy a light dinner. There will also be gift baskets available for door prizes.

To register, please contact The Arc Gloucester at (856) 848–8648.

The Commission for Women consists of professional women who are appointed by the Gloucester County Board of Chosen Freeholders to conduct fact-finding activities and advise the board and the public about issues affecting women in the county.
