Prescription Discount Cards available to all county residents
The cards not only cover brand or generic prescription medications, but also pet medications.
Gloucester County Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger and Freeholder Jim Jefferson announced a new prescription drug discount card, available to all county residents regardless of age, income or existing health coverage.
“We are pleased to partner with ProAct to provide this innovative program and we encourage our residents to participate,” Damminger said. “This program can help residents save money on their prescription medication any time their prescriptions are not covered by insurance.”
“ProAct is a unique discount card that not only covers brand or generic prescription medications but it also covers pet medications that can be filled at a regular pharmacy,” Jefferson, liaison to the Department of Health and Human Services, said. “We work hard to find ways to help our residents keep more of their hard earned money in their pockets, and this program is way to do that.”
Participants can expect to save 52 percent on average. Discounts will vary depending on the drug and quantity purchased. The prescription discount card can be used at any participating pharmacy in Gloucester County and at over 55,000 pharmacies nationwide. The cards cannot be used in conjunction with any other type of insurance, to reduce co-pays or with other discount programs.
There are no enrollment forms, no membership fees and no restrictions or limits on frequency of use. Participants simply show the card to their pharmacist when they are dropping off a prescription to be filled and they will automatically receive savings.
A variety of additional discounts such as vision, hearing and LASIK services, as well as many others are also available through the program.
