Seniors ‘keep cool’ with fan distribution opportunity
The fans will be distributed by the Gloucester County Division of Senior Services on June 14
The Gloucester County Division of Senior Services’ annual “Keep Cool” Fan Distribution for seniors will be take place on Wednesday, June 14.
“With Memorial Day weekend right around the corner, the hot weather will soon be upon us,” Freeholder Director Robert Damminger said. “The Division of Senior Services ‘Keep Cool’ Fan Distribution is an opportunity for the county to help those seniors who are living on fixed income or a tight budget stay cool and comfortable during the summer season.”
“For those seniors who do not have central air or live without window air conditioning units, fans are a useful tool to help keep their homes cool and prevent them from compromising their health when the weather heats up,” said Freeholder Jim Jefferson, liaison to the Division of Senior Services.
Fan distribution will take place from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Gloucester County’s Senior Services Offices, 115 Budd Blvd. in West Deptford.
Due to the limited amount of fans and under the guidelines set forth by the Older Americans Act, priority will be given to seniors 60 and older with low income or possessing a PAAD (Pharmaceutical Assistance to the Aged and Disabled) or Medicaid card. Seniors must show PAAD or Medicaid card to show low income. Those who received a fan from senior services in 2016 are not eligible to receive one this year.
