Staying sober during the holidays
Gloucester County Addiction Task Force ready to help those facing addiction, those in recovery and their impacted family members
Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger and Freeholder Jim Jefferson recently announced the Gloucester County Addiction Task Force prepared a brochure and has staff working within the Division of Human & Disability Services, Office of Addiction Services, to help provide information, tips and resources to help those facing addiction, those in recovery, and their impacted family members through the holiday season.
“The holiday season can be a very stressful time for many, and those facing addiction or in recovery have to deal with circumstances that a lot of people do not realize. The County’s Addiction Task Force and the Division of Human and Disability Services, Office of Addiction Services have worked to put together very realistic tips and resources for those who need it,” Damminger said. “I applaud their efforts.”
Freeholder Jefferson, Liaison to the Department of Health and Human Services said, “This is a time of year when we need to offer as much guidance and assistance as possible to those in recovery and those with addictions. The County has a lot of resources and referrals to offer, often times it is just a matter of making a phone call.”
“Addiction is not a single-user issue, it impacts the entire family, so we have also provided guides and information for family members who are working through addiction or recovery to help them through this season,” Jefferson said.
In addition to helpful tips, information about the Gloucester County Division of Human & Disability Services, Office of Addiction Services, Referral For Substance Abuse Detox and Treatment Services, NJ Addiction Services Hotline, Gloucester County Municipal Alliance, NJ Connect for Recovery Hotline, Southern NJ Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous of NJ, Gloucester County Mental Health Board and the NJ Hopeline 24/7 are included in the brochure.
