When talking about Heartful Leadership, my mind goes down memory lane right into my childhood days. In school, we used to have a bench monitor, then a class monitor, etc. Then there used to be scout leaders, leaders in NCC known as under-officer. We would love to become monitors or class leaders in school days and would feel proud to take on the responsibility and would feel nice to seek the attention of our Class Teacher towards us. We had class representatives in the college classroom, and a college leader would be elected.

While surfing, I saw a Heartfulness video on this topic, IIHMR University, Jaipur with UN Global Compact India and Heartfulness Institute hosted a webinar on ‘Heartful Leadership Transforming Education and Supporting Sustainability on 20th June 2020, wherein I got to learn a lot.

I learned about different leadership styles too. They are:

· Authoritarian Leadership

· Participative Leadership.

· Delegative Leadership.

· Transactional Leadership.

· Transformational Leadership.

Few of us already know about Heartfulness Meditation. Let us know more about Heartful Leadership, too. In a nutshell, I will share what I learned about Heartful Leadership: that it is a heart-based leadership approach wherein the leader’s heart guides his/her mind to take the right action. Heartful leaders lead their lives by their hearts and inspire people through their contemplative minds. Heartful leaders are authentic and aspire to make others leaders. They are self-aware, contemplative with emotional intelligence. They are full of empathy and humility. They create trust and build on relationships. They influence people positively in the right direction. They put others first.

Being a homemaker, I have been listening to quite a few of the heartfulness webinars on this topic ‘Heartful Leadership’ I was curious to learn more about ‘being a heartful leader’. No amount of my surfing was enough on this topic, as am no expert in this topic. I am still learning and sharing what I learned about Heartful Leadership. Heartful Leadership is a vast and in-depth topic. Interested people may visit this site https://www.heartfulnessmagazine.com/ for more in-depth insights into this topic and there are many YouTube videos on this topic as well, for aspiring seekers to gain more insights.

We all know about Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King, Mahatma Gandhi, and many more prominent leaders, and about their mothers who nurtured them into being good, heartful leaders.

We had and have women leaders like Indira Gandhi, Mother Teresa, Margaret Thatcher, and Angela Merkel too. We need many leaders like them for the Transformation of the Society.

We have so many soldiers on the border who are leaders in themselves, who are sacrificing their lives and also giving a tough fight with the terrorists.

I would like to highlight a woman IPS officer Sanjukta Parashar armed with AK 47 and her brave efforts of record of killing 16 terrorists to death in 15 months by entering a dense forest. She is a humble and loving person and says only criminals should fear her. She is presently in Delhi, her goal is completely to eliminate terrorism in the country. She has dedicated herself to making our homes safe and I am inspired by her. I think I should include her in the category of ‘Heartful Leaders’. Her leadership skills are commendable.

Don’t we need more and more heartful leaders in the present scenario in our country like Sanjukta Parashar? We need leaders everywhere to run the country, in the corporate sectors, etc. All those great leaders who did a lot for the country, somewhere the credit goes to their mothers too. Their mothers were the actual leaders backstage who created another leader in the front.

Heartfulness Institute holds various value-based education programs for students at schools and colleges and leadership skills is one of the topics being taught to them as a part of the curriculum and there are no charges for it. It also has various programs for Corporate Sectors, Villages, Government and Non-Governmental organizations, Educational Sector too.

Interested people may email info@heartfulness.org to enquire about these programs.
