What about “No no no, Oh yes people”?

I love working with people who say no often. It’s the most genuine feeling to expect from people especially when directly dealing with them.

Well! This may be suggestive for some but I’d like to share based on experience that:

People who can say no often to others are not fake!

They know what they want and go straight for it. They also know what they don’t like and have no reserves rejecting them quickly. Unlike those trying to discover themselves through your input, such people wouldn't waste your time.

Creativity-related works are tedious to get done. Inspiration is a rare fuel. Putting it at work can be a mixed feeling of fulfillment and frustrating at a time. Especially when the work has to go by a client’s desire and requirements, or is being adjusted by someone else’s perspective of things.

However, no no no people can confidently pinpoint what is not going their way at the early stage of the work once you show them the draft.

So avoid making the mistake of finishing the work based on how you apprehended it before to get their opinions. Yes, you probably apprehended well what their requests were, you might even think you know what is better for them and so on. But still, let them decide and give them that opportunity very early.

Bypassing that stage is why most creators get upset at clients at the end, thinking their work is not appreciated at the right value.

No no no people, on the contrary, are the best clients you enjoy working not just For but With. I’d like to emphasize that because they help you channel the inspiration you’re putting in, right from the get-go. They help you express the best of yourself by sharing their perspective of things.

After initial discussions and work start, some creators think it might be too early to show clients the ongoing work or assume the current stage might be too technical for them to understand. Haha! Do yourself a favor and show them whatever you’re up to. Try having fun explaining to them what they don’t understand if necessary. They’ll surprise you. Most people grab things easily when it’s well communicated, especially “no no no, oh yes” people. Avoid sitting there thinking for them and judging them afterward when they reject your work.

When you start communicating with such people, you identify them based on their tendency to accurately point out what is or isn’t okay for them. And also how they don’t miss to give their orientation, inputs, and remarks. I usually end up building very stable and constructive relationships with such people, professionally and some even personally depending on the vibe that connected us.

Nobody likes a no, that’s a common behavior. Most folks are “Yes” starved or “Yes” greedy individuals from childhood.

People expect so much a Yes that they even take no response or silence for a Maybe yes and stay in a stalled hope forever.

No is a no! Happier is whoever let it sink in earlier and move on to propose better.

Eventually, no no no people are the best to say Yes as well. Their “Yes” usually comes as “Oh yes”. A pure satisfaction and genuine yes. It’s a no-easy to get yes. That’s why the internal reward once you get it, is very satisfying; sometimes even more than any other external form of reward. The appreciation of the clients deeply acknowledging the work properly done as wished.

I got an “Oh yes” many times because I learned how to work with the clients not just for them. It’s a good habit that builds up over time, to the point you start to act the right way toward people effortlessly and always attract the right people by the way.

Now I look out for the “Wow”: That’s when you do better than expectations. Such experiences shape the quality of your life at its core. I believe these are the moments that justify the quote:

“Find your passion and you’ll never work a day of your life.”
