The Gnosis Safe Multisig is now available for download on the iOS and Android app stores. Learn more about the mobile app and access to testnet versions here.

Lessons Learned

At the end of 2018 we released the first Gnosis Safe mobile app in which users were able to set up a smart contract wallet from their phone.

After having the app live for a year, we had a number of different learnings. The biggest takeaway was that we tried to cover too many different use cases at once. We wanted to build an app that worked for both technical users as well as newcomers to the space. In the end, we found that the Gnosis Safe app was too restrictive for both user groups.

Moving Forward

We’ve since made the decision to focus on group management of funds using the Gnosis Safe Multisig, with the following product vision:

Build the most trusted platform to store digital assets on Ethereum.

At the end of 2019 we released the Gnosis Safe Multisig web interface, where users can set up a Gnosis Safe with a variety of owner wallets and a signature threshold of their choice. We’re constantly expanding the functionality and have recently added things such as off-chain signatures and dapp integrations via Safe apps.

Today, we are expanding on this vision by announcing the release of our Gnosis Safe Multisig mobile app, which you can now download on the iOS and Android app stores, with more information and access to testnet versions here.

In this first version, users have access to read-only features after adding a Safe. In the future, we are planning to add functionality to initiate and sign transactions from mobile.

Legacy Mobile App

The existing mobile app is not directly compatible with the Gnosis Safe Multisig and we have decided to deprecate it (thereby making it the Gnosis Safe legacy mobile app).

If you are a user of the legacy mobile app, your app will continue to work the same as before. We do not intend to stop the backend infrastructure (relayer) required for it until the new mobile app has reached feature parity.

However, we recommend considering a migration to the web interface if that is suitable for you. Find out more about the differences between Gnosis Safe and Gnosis Safe Multisig and how to migrate your Safe on our help center.

If you a Gnosis Safe legacy app user and you would like to re-download, please refer to this article.
