The dOrg team by Lea Filipo

In order to spotlight all of the incredible GECO funded teams, we decided to launch a community blog series — a monthly update that will give our readers the inside scoop on the teams behind GECO, what they are building, and most importantly how their project will impact the space!

This month we spoke to dOrg, a team that is using their GECO grant to build bonding curves for DAOs.

Who are you?

dOrg is a freelancer cooperative focused on dapps, DAOs and DeFi. We have members in Norway, Canada, New York, Romania and Berlin.

We think of ourselves as a collective of web3 freelancers that join forces to work on high-impact projects while retaining autonomy and flexibility.

How did you get into Ethereum / Crypto?

While we each have a unique story, we were all excited by the technical challenges, mechanism design opportunities, and political implications of decentralized systems.

Why did you choose this project?

The launch of the dxDAO was a groundbreaking experiment in decentralized governance, but we quickly realized it needed a funding mechanism to operate sustainably. Given our experience in the DAOstack ecosystem, we felt well positioned to propose a solution.

What impact do you think your project will have?

We hope that the dxDAO will utilize what we’ve built to bootstrap the DutchX and begin developing other revenue-generating DeFi products. More ambitiously, we hope that our bonding curve library will help a new wave of projects to responsibly bootstrap and manage themselves as DAOs. The BC-DAO library is built to be adaptable to different use-cases.

What might be the biggest obstacles of your project?

Bonding curve economics are very immature and poorly understood. Even if game theory is “right”, there is no guarantee that people will feel comfortable using these sorts of mechanisms anytime soon.

Why are you interested in Gnosis and what we’re building?

We really appreciate Gnosis’ role in the ecosystem as a team that’s pushing the boundaries of crypto-economics (Prediction Market Tournaments, Conditional Tokens, Reverse Dutch Auction Exchanges) while maintaining core tooling like the Multisig Wallet and Safe.

How do you think your project will contribute to the Gnosis ecosystem?

We think that fundraising mechanisms with built-in accountability are crucial to the success of decentrally governed protocols. We see a future where all the wonderful projects developed by Gnosis are handed over to– or even acquired by– DAOs.

What impact do you believe blockchain technology will have?

Blockchain tech will shift power from massive hierarchies (Nation-States, Multinational Corporations) to individuals and networked communities.

How do you envision the ecosystem will change in the next 5–10 years?

UX will continue improving by leaps and bounds, blockchains will scale, crypto will moon. But there will also be a lot of hype, opportunism and confusion as the ecosystem comes into contact with legacy systems.

Tell us a fun fact about your team.

dOrg dogfoods all the way through from our finances to our governance. Our legal entity and funds are managed entirely on-chain using DAOstack.

We’re always open to new contributors and projects. Reach out!

Many Thanks to Mareen Glaeske, Kei Kreutler, and the dOrg team!
