Since the unveiling of GECO, we’ve funded 10 teams that have been hard at work contributing to our ecosystem. Many of these teams will be presenting at DappCon, and we encourage anyone interested to attend!

On June 30th, we wrapped up Wave 3 of the Gnosis Ecosystem Fund. We heard from some really interesting teams that were exploring ways to improve the functionality of the Gnosis Safe and prediction markets. Although we were impressed with the proposals that came in and felt they could represent important contributions to the broader ecosystem, we have decided not to fund any of the applicants in this wave.

In an effort to improve and clarify our decision making process, we’d like to share some updated guidance on the kinds of proposals we are interested in funding.

What you need to know for Wave 4

We created GECO to encourage the community to build modules and integrations for our diverse products, enhance user experience, and develop mechanisms and infrastructure to strengthen the Gnosis Ecosystem. So what does it take to receive GECO funding?

Here’s what our team is looking for:

  • A project that seeks to improve a core feature of the Gnosis Safe or prediction markets.
  • A project that will drive adoption of Gnosis projects and blockchain technology in general.
  • A project that focuses on engaging and educating the community about Gnosis.

As this is not an incubator or VC fund, we are not looking for standalone projects but rather integrations that will positively contribute to our product ecosystem.

If you have more questions, please reach out to us on Gitter, and we would be happy to provide additional guidance on your proposal’s eligibility for GECO funding.

WalletConnect Microgrants

We believe that dapp usability is key to blockchain adoption. Projects like WalletConnect are revolutionizing the dapp user experience by making connecting to the Ethereum blockchain as easy as scanning a QR code. We recently released a WalletConnect integration for the Gnosis Safe so users can quickly and seamlessly interact with decentralized applications.

In an effort to improve the Safe’s dapp interoperability, we have decided to offer $3,000 microgrants to teams interested in building a WalletConnect integration that is compatible with the Safe. Interested teams can apply on a rolling basis (outside of the GECO funding rounds) until the end of each month. One to two microgrants may be awarded each month. For these microgrants, we will only consider projects with a sizeable user base who have not received funding from VCs or token sales.

Still looking for ideas on what to #buidl? Stay tuned for a post on what we’d like to see built on the Gnosis Safe or our prediction market framework.

Many Thanks to Lauren Dunmore and Kei Kreutler
