Today we are excited to announce two new features for Gnosis Safe Multisig users. If you haven’t tried Safe Multisig, head over to the application to get started in less than 60 seconds.

Desktop Application

Our biggest focus at Gnosis is security and helping build a truly decentralized future by removing as many centralized dependancies as possible. Starting today, along with our web application, users are now able to download and install a desktop version of Safe Multisig. The desktop app allows for users to remove the dependency of our hosted web interface, adding an additional layer of security for Safe interactions.

The desktop application also gives users more flexibility around upgrading versions. While the web hosted version will always have our latest deployed version, desktop users can choose to stay back on older versions if they would like to.

This is the second step in our plan to offer applications on all of web, desktop and mobile. If you’d like early access to our mobile efforts around Safe Multisig, please sign up for early access here.

Contract Interactions

While we are currently working with teams to build out our Safe Apps inventory, we understand there will be many cases in which users will want to directly interact with any contract. We are excited to announce that our most requested feature by current users, contract interactions, are now live!

As an example for how contract interactions work, let’s take a look at how you could now interact with the ENS directly from your Safe. Upon opening the “Send” interface, there is a new feature called “Contract Interaction”.

From here you can paste in an address of a smart contract you want to interact with. In this case we will use the ENS Base Registrar contract. Simply paste in the contract address and if the contract is verified on Etherscan, the interface will automatically fill in the ABI information. From there, you can pick eligible methods in the contract and define parameters before sending the transaction.

We think this gives Safe Multisig users a lot of power and flexibility when it comes to interacting with Ethereum contracts and applications. While we will continue to build out our Safe Apps store for easier interactions, it’s important that we cover all use cases for application interactions.

As always if you have questions about these new features or Safe in general, head over to our Discord server and we’d be happy to help.
