So you want to build with Gnosis but just don’t know exactly what?

In our last blogpost, we announced that GECO (Gnosis Ecosystem Fund) is giving away 3K USD equivalent in microgrants each month to support any team interested in building a WalletConnect integration that is compatible with the Gnosis Safe.

To encourage developers to build on Gnosis’ platforms and protocols, we’ve come up with some project ideas to help your team get #geco funded. The projects outlined below are centered around the Gnosis Safe, our fully open source smart wallet.

Build a Statistics Interface for the Gnosis Safe

The primary goal of this project is to create an analytics dashboard that tracks statistical information around Gnosis Safe wallet usage. The interface should have a clean UI that displays statistics including:

  • Number of Safes are created
  • Amount of ETH stored in Safes (and the corresponding fiat value)
  • Option to show the amount of other indexed tokens stored in Safes
  • History of number of Safes created, funds stored, transactions made and transaction volume over time

The Safe statistics interface should serve as an overview of the adoption and traction of the Gnosis Safe wallet. Recipients are expected to both implement and host the project.

Build an Interface for the Gnosis Gas Station

The primary goal of this project is to create and host an interface for a Gnosis Gas Station. This interface should have a clean UI that displays details on:

  • gas price estimates,
  • a gas price calculator,
  • gas price history, and
  • a FAQ.

If you have performed a transaction on Ethereum, you have already been exposed to the concept of gas. Gas is the unit which measures the computational work of running a transaction or smart contract on the Ethereum network. Different transactions require different amounts of gas, and gas costs vary based on network congestion. To ensure that a transaction will be executed in a reasonable amount of time it is important to set the correct gas costs.

We experienced that EthGasStation often underestimates the gas price. This can cause huge problems when using a single account, as if just one tx executed, you get transactions after it which cannot be mined. We encountered this problem regularly with bots running on the DutchX. After starting our own gas station, no more of those incidents occurred.

The main differences are the following: Ethgasstation looks at the last 1,500 blocks whereas the Gnosis Gas station takes only the last 200 blocks into account. This makes the latter more adaptive to sudden gas price spikes which can be annoying to users.

Help us build an interface for the Gnosis Gas Station to ensure more reliable gas prices!

Interested teams should put together a proposal outlining how they will bring one of these project ideas to life! Please include some information about yourself, a portfolio of your prior work, and mockups for potential interfaces.

Submit your proposal by September 30th to be considered for our next wave of grants.

Reach out to us via Gitter if you have more questions

Stay tuned for new project ideas!

Many Thanks to Lauren Dunmore and Kei Kreutler.
