Spire Starts Trading on August 17, 2021

Congratulations to Spire co-founders Peter Platzer, Jeroen Cappaert, Joel Spark and the entire Spire team on their first day of trading as a public company today (NYSE: SPIR). Founded in 2012, the Company was an early innovator of today’s new batch of cubesats to provide the world with space-based data and analytics. The team has since worked tirelessly to build what is widely considered today as one of the leading companies in the space industry. All of us at Promus Ventures are excited for the team and continue to be optimistic about their future growth.

We previously wrote about Spire’s announced $1.2B merger with special purpose acquisition company NavSight Holdings. We also covered our first Series A investment in 2014 and leading the Company’s Series B round and joining the Board in 2015. It has been a privilege to walk for so many years (and in so many countries) with a team devoted to its grand vision and mission. As we have stated many times previously, space is truly a global industry and Spire’s team is spread out across the world to cover its wide list of sovereign and corporate customers.
