Introducing GoatTalks

Update: After a series of experiments, we’ll be shutting down GoatTalks on October 5th, 2017, and focusing our efforts on By The Bay. Thank you so much for your support!

There’s no direct path from transforming an idea into a real, living product, but today we’re one step closer.

Jimmy Chion and I are excited to introduce GoatTalks, a place to help you discover the friends you never knew you had. We’re taking what we’ve learned from The Hello Project and ballot.fyi to create a platform that connects people through stories and one-on-one video conversations. We still have a lot to learn, but the Jim Bettinger Newsroom Innovation Fund has given us a chance to grow, and we cannot be more grateful for the opportunity.

In the next few weeks, we’ll be partnering with AJ+ and using our grant to build and test GoatTalks with news readers. Our mission is simple: we want to design an experience that facilitates trust between strangers. How can we create a space that fosters meaningful conversations and communities between people who wouldn’t otherwise meet?
