All promotional strategies are created to help you reach your business goals, but all of them are not created equal.

It’s always important to look back at last years numbers and strive to better them, but you won’t get there doing the same exact things again this time around.

You have to mix it up and take a long hard look at what’s working for others and what might work well for your business.

I’m going to list some tactics that you can [and should] start implementing as soon as you’re done reading this article.

Okay, maybe not right away. And maybe not all of them depending on your business model, but at the very least you need to be trying your hardest to implement as many as your brand will allow.

Diversification is the most important tool when it comes to company growth — diversification of ads, tactics, products, etc.

One trick ponies don’t last long in this business so let’s teach your old dog some new tricks…

Content marketing has never been in a greater place.

As more and more brands realize the importance of digital content marketing it’s getting harder and harder to cut through the crowd and grab your audience’s attention before anyone else does. In order to do this, you have to consider quality over quantity, with quantity…

Unlike other strategies where the amount of content determines the success of the campaign, content marketing needs to be created in a way that provides the best quality across as many places as possible.

In a recent article of mine, I went over a list of underutilized social media sites and platforms for 2018 marketing. (You can find it by searching the recent blog posts on site.)

It goes without saying that pushing more content is better. Of course, this is assuming that you’re stretching fewer better quality pieces of content across more platforms, instead of more mediocre content across fewer platforms.

You will need to take some time to create a solid content distribution strategy to ensure that your team is delivering your best content across a plethora of usable social platforms.

More companies are making authenticity a priority.

People spend time on social media to interact on a personal level with others.

This makes your occasional ad image with the headline “Limited Edition. Get your ‘niche product’ here while they’re available. Just pay shipping!” fall short when trying to reach your audience on that emotional level needed to convert them.

Personalization of your brand is super important and is an effective way to scale the connection you have with your brand and its audience.

Personalized content is great and all, but aside from that, being
open and honest about your company, the products, shipping time, etc. will further establish the trust your customers have with your brand name and image.

Let them see who is creating the content their viewing, or who is creating the product their purchasing. Putting a face to a product always increases trust and emotional attachment. Just be honest!

Live Video Streaming Is Taking Over.

People love being able to interact with celebrities and influencers. Live video streaming allows them to do just that with zero resistance.

If you’ve already begun to build a following for your brand don’t be shy about going live on Facebook or Youtube and answering some questions your customers may have about you and your business.

This, again, will further establish your position as an influencer in your niche and give them the emotional connection they crave with a brand they love.

Don’t be afraid to take your viewers recommendations and suggestions from the live Q/A’s either.

Free market research is the best market research.

Micro Influencers Are On The Rise.

I mentioned brand advocates recently, and want to talk about their importance where your company is concerned. Hearsay is a defining factor for a lot of the success we see from companies, both big and small.

This stems from the trust one person has for another being utilized and extending that trust to a brand or product. If your friend tells you that something is good you’re more likely to try it than if a stranger says so.

There are people on social media who get paid to promote and feature products on their pages and profiles. This is a real-life marketing strategy being used by many different companies and honestly has been for a long long time in all kinds of media.

To be considered a celebrity on social media someone only needs to have close to one million active followers. This is far less than the amount that we see movie stars and musicians having, and it’s also much easier to reach out to them.

Reach out to some personalities on Facebook and Instagram and see if they’re willing to promote your products, and at what cost. It’s better if you talk to those who are already involved in your niche. It’s also easier to convince them to help, as well as to get their followers to jump on board.

Interactive Marketing Is Dope.

This is sort of a broad term as it depends on what type of marketing you’re utilizing, but the general concept is the same. Create interactive content for your audience to… interact with.

You can do this by adding carousel ads on Facebook, adding a small product gallery in your emails, creating quizzes, or even asking for reviews. Anything that makes your audience take a second to stop and play around with it.

Though our attention spans are for the most part short when scrolling through our news feeds if you can get a potential customer to stop and interact with a piece of content you’ve created you’ve already forced them to commit at some level.

This will make it easier for them to justify proceeding to the next step; that being your sales page, product page, or whatever you decide.

Online Hangouts Are The Bees Knees.

Similar to the Live Streaming suggestion, online hangouts are also a super effective way brands are getting to know their audience. Think of it as being invited to a party with friends. Give them a time and place and tell them to be there.

This works particularly well when you have a Facebook group of customers and niche members. Not only does the group give the call more of that desired exclusivity feel, but it will also prompt all members who are active at the time of the broadcast. (Cool right?)

Start scheduling hangouts with your followers as if you were hosting your own television show. If you make it entertaining and educational the word will spread and you will find more potential customers waiting to be a part of the community you’ve created.

Now, more than ever, we have the ability to reach our customer base easier and more effectively than any time before. Make sure you are doing all that you can to relay your brand message to those who might be interested.

Take the action needed to acquire a passionate user base and further their connection by rewarding them for taking part in your brand’s development.

It is much harder to obtain a customer than it is to keep one; so strive to be their best friend as well as the authority you are.
