On November 7th, GoChain launched registration for our very first virtual hackathon: GoBuild. The goal was simple: build a relationship with developers and invite people from around the world to use and build dApps on GoChain. Participants had the opportunity to stretch their imaginations and showcase their skills to compete among top teams for over $50,000 in prizes.
We were blown away by the response from the community. Nearly 100 people registered to participate! Many of these people indicated that they have never participated in a hackathon and were eager to dive in and learn. GoBUILD kicked off on Nov 26th with a opening event that included a pitch fire and a special video by hackathon judge Ivan on Tech!

As the week progressed, we were impressed to see the ideas unfold and the activity on our Discord channel increase. Hackers had 24/7 support from the GoChain team and learned how to deploy smart contracts, compile code, and develop front-end UI, all powered by the GoChain network. The week went by fast and the deadline has come and gone! A total of nine eligible hacks are up for judging.

GoBUILD has an all-star panel made up of our very own CTO Travis Reeder and CEO Jason Dekker, as well as two guest judges including Ivan on Tech and crypto famous artist Marguerite Driscoll. It is now in their hands as they decide the top teams and award our first, second and third place prize winners. All winning teams will be announced live on the Ivan on Tech show December 11th.
