GoChain is excited to announce the addition of Matthew King to the team as Head of Business Development. Matthew will manage GoChain’s go-to-market strategy and oversee relationship management with executives in GoChain’s extended network of ICOs, dApps, exchanges, investment funds, and other ecosystem partners.

Matthew brings over 10 years of experience in sales and business development from both startups and the Fortune 100. Most recently Matthew spent two years at Microsoft in their Silicon Valley office where he was a sales executive representing large enterprise clients including Wells Fargo, LinkedIn, Gap, Levi’s, Blue Shield of California, and more. Matthew frequently leveraged senior executive leadership from Microsoft in sales motions including their Chief Investment Officer and the CMO of Microsoft North America and he managed over 30 channel partners including IBM, Adobe, Apttus, Lithium, and independent ISVs.

Prior to that Matthew was at Morgan Stanley in their Technology Investment Banking Group in Menlo Park which is the group that advised WhatsApp on its $22.6B acquisition by Facebook and managed many of the largest and most prominent capital markets and M&A transactions in the technology industry. While at Morgan Stanley Matthew worked directly with Fitbit’s executive team to advise on their pre-IPO financing round including a $250M credit facility, advised Amazon.com on a $6B bond issuance, worked closely with the Corporate Development teams at Amazon.com, IBM, and First Solar on acquisition processes, and provided guidance to the CFO and other senior finance executives at Bloom Energy on revenue recognition methodologies.

Before working in the corporate world Matthew was an entrepreneur and founded Kingo Energy, an award-winning solar energy company that pioneered the micro-utility model of financing small scale solar power with microloans. Kingo Energy won the B-Corporation “Best for the World” award in 2013 and was featured in a case study written by IE Business school which is a top 10 ranked global business school. After Kingo Energy, Matthew worked as a sales executive at Sungevity Solar where he helped grow the startup’s revenues from leased home solar energy systems to over $50M.

Matthew’s education pedigree includes an MBA from the Yale School of Management focusing on Finance and a BA from Harvard University where he concentrated in Religious Studies.

Matthew is based in Los Angeles and outside of work what energizes him is travel (30 countries and counting), yoga and meditation, the outdoors, Burning Man, art, and reading. Matthew’s personal causes are environmental stewardship, homelessness, and diversity and inclusion in blockchain.

“I’m honored to join such a high caliber team with an incredible vision and the proven ability to execute as we focus on tackling the issue of creating a fast, scalable blockchain protocol for the universe of ICOs and decentralized applications to build on. GoChain is building something amazing and I’m very excited to help bring this much needed infrastructure solution to market.”
