LinkedIn Confusion, iOS Development and IT Talent Gap in Silicon Valley

Hey there,

February is a dexterous little fella cutting an essencial couple of days for all the plans to meet their deadlines. However, the shortage of working hours would never hurt our ambitious plans. Lack of support would. But this is not our case.

LinkedIn Frustration

I’ll start with the disappointment from LinkedIn. Not that I want to add negative vibes into the feed. I simply feel there are many of those who struggle with the same issue and may find my case educative and valuable.

But first things first. You probably don’t know, but this February LinkedIn cut on Executive Plan and its features. It’s worth mentioning: they are The Features. The Features business people use daily to operate efficiently along the platform. The Features you pay 719 Euro annually for. The Features you build LinkedIn account in the first place.

It took me efforts and a bunch of demanding letters sent to the platform’s customer support to finally get refund for the 2 months of now useless advanced plan and some irrenewable losses: InMails, Saved Searches. If the story rings a bell, keep in mind — there’re many of us in this boat, and speaking out does make sense (and save money) in this case.

iOS Development

Next comes better news, not only for Digiteum, but for anyone searching for an iOS team. This February Digiteum issued a couple of apps — a chatbot and an app — to illustrate how open source Oxford Dictionaries API works to everyone who wants to embed massive language data into one’s app or web system.

I won’t go into details, you can check the wrap-up here and get the details in Chatter, Wordfinder and Oxford Dictionaries API cases. What I believe is worth pointing out is that our iOS team is more or less available for new challenges.

This is what the guys are capable of.

Speaking of challenges, if you have an idea, issue or ongoing project that needs technical implementation, and are in search of the hands for it, you can contact us and we’ll discuss how to solve your digital problem on time and in budget.

Talking about IT Talent Gap in the Middle of Silicon Valley

Earlier in LinkedIn I have already covered the prep tricks for the MeetUp on SmartSourcing in San Francisco. Looking back at the event that took place on March, 8 I realize that the efforts were justified. However, we had more expectations about the engagement and feedback.

Tips to take into consideration while organizing a meetup:

Tip 1: Don’t plan the event for pre-epidemy term and 6–7 p.m. local time. People may miss it for the reasons beyond their control. This is what happened with us this time.

Tip 2: Carefully think of the platform and communication tool that markets your event: EventBrite, MeetUp, Facebook Groups all require individual approach and have their own faults. For example, the message that was supposed to clarify event placement was delivered by the platform [MeetUp] after the event was already over.

Tip 3: Make sure you have excellent speakers and panel discussion leads for your event. We were lucky to have Alex Golod, Roman Kaplun and Brian Venneman as IT outsourcing experts.

Tip 4: Follow up your attendees with every step and every piece of content to make the information you share as valuable as possible.

This time we issued a couple of infographics on Why Belarus is an Outstanding Outsourcing Destination and The Shortcuts that Help to Find out if Your Business Is Ready to Outsource, Made a Review and gave Recent Stats on IT outsourcing regarding Belarus and the U.S., and finally the presentation that explains How to Do IT Outsourcing Right.

Being not an outsourcing company, but a digital technology agency, we at Digiteum, however, know everything regarding IT outsourcing to CEE, Belarus in particular. So if you have any interest, don’t hesitate to ask your questions and share your thoughts with us.
