Jordan Peterson’s Sophistry Against Atheism

For those interested in philosophy, atheism, and religion, one of the funniest viral videos recently surfaced on YouTube, called “Jordan Peterson Surrounded by 20 Atheists.”

It’s part of a series that features an odd debate format in which, in this video’s case, the atheists rush to debate some key claims Peterson puts forward, and the rest of the atheists can vote to switch Peterson’s debate partner, allowing others to get a chance to speak. All the atheists in this video with Peterson were young, but there were some stellar debaters among them who got to the bottom of Peterson’s mischief and humiliated him.

Peterson spent almost the entire 90 minutes scowling, interrupting, and bullying his opponents, and at the end, the format permitted him to choose one of the twenty to debate the issues during a final segment. He chose what was clearly the weakest debater in the group, or at least one who didn’t press him as much and thus allowed him to pontificate and obfuscate.

Peterson said explicitly that he chose her because she “wasn’t trying to win.” Peterson was, however, trying to “win” throughout the event, meaning that he was strenuous in attempting to…
