Who do you want to be?

Are characters the driving force behind the success of one MOBA vs another?

One of the biggest problem(s) facing new players is…

You have N number of heroes to learn, and 4(N) number of skills to know about, and X number of items to remember that have some combination of Y number of stats, and a Z number of activated item abilities, and so on. It’s a nightmare for a new player, especially since you generally have the pleasure of learning these things while players are yelling at you — Cyber.

Some people I know started playing their perspective MOBAs due to what I’ll call peer-participation, the “everyone else is playing so I’ll fit in and make friends, if I learn too!” ideology. However, since I’m a bit older and not so concerned with “fitting in” I saw League as a bloated boring beat-fest filled with Trolls and nothing worth dealing with in life. The Champions were nice to look at but every Champion I found myself connecting with were very difficult to play, period. Mind you at this point I’m beginning to find it a bit easier to want to learn how to play League Champions but…

…not like I feel when I think about being Atomic Wonder Woman or Harley Quinn.

What kind of character makes you wanna play a game?
