Are We Living in the Last Days of the Church Age?: How to Live in the Last Days of the Church Age

What Jesus said about the signs of his coming and how we should prepare for his glorious return

The End is Near:

Many Christians believe that we are living in the last days of the Church Age, the period of time between the first and second coming of Jesus Christ.

They point to the signs that Jesus himself gave in Matthew 24, where he described the events that would precede his return.

These include wars, famines, earthquakes, pestilences, persecution, apostasy, false prophets, and the gospel being preached to all nations.

Some of these signs have been fulfilled or are being fulfilled in our generation, indicating that we are living in the end times.

But what does it mean to live in the last days of the Church Age? How should we respond to the challenges and opportunities that we face as followers of Christ?

And what is the hope that we have as we await his glorious appearance?

The last days of the Church Age are not a time of despair, but a time of urgency. We are called to be faithful and fruitful in our service to God and his kingdom.

We are called to be watchful and ready for his coming, not knowing the day or the hour. We are called to be witnesses and ambassadors of his grace and truth, sharing the good news of salvation with everyone we meet.

We are called to be holy and humble, living in obedience and love to God and our neighbor.

The last days of the Church Age are also a time of grace and glory. We have the privilege of being part of God’s plan to redeem and restore his creation.

We have the promise of his presence and power to sustain and equip us for every good work. We have the assurance of his protection and provision to meet our every need.

And we have the hope of his return, when he will reward us for our faithfulness, transform us into his likeness, and welcome us into his eternal kingdom.

We do not know when the last days of the Church Age will end, but we know that they will end soon. Jesus said, “Behold, I am coming quickly” (Revelation 22:12).

He also said, “When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near” (Luke 21:28).

Therefore, let us live in light of his imminent return, with faith, hope, and love. Let us be ready for him when he comes. And let us say with the Spirit and the bride, “Come, Lord Jesus” (Revelation 22:17).
