The Bible tells us that Israel and Jerusalem are the focal points of God’s plan for the end times. The prophet Zechariah declared that the Lord will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling and a burdensome stone for all people, and that all nations will gather against it to battle.
Jesus Christ himself prophesied that Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled. The apostle Paul revealed that a partial blindness has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in.
What does this mean for us today? It means that we are living in the last days of the Church Age, the period of grace and mercy that God has extended to the world through the gospel of Jesus Christ.
It means that Jesus Christ is coming soon, and he is coming for a church that is pure, holy, and ready for his return. It means that we need to wake up, shake up, and start looking at Israel, Jerusalem, and the Word of God.
Why is Israel so important? Because God chose Israel as his special people, and made an everlasting covenant with them. He gave them the land of Canaan as an inheritance, and promised to bless them and make them a blessing to all families of the earth. He also promised to send them a Messiah, a Savior, who would reign over them and over all nations from Jerusalem.
Why is Jerusalem so important? Because Jerusalem is the city of God, the place where he has put his name forever. It is also the place where Jesus Christ was crucified, buried, and resurrected, and where he ascended to heaven and will return again.
Jerusalem is the future capital of the world, where Jesus Christ will establish his kingdom of peace and righteousness.
Why is the Word of God so important?
Because the Word of God is the revelation of God’s will, wisdom, and ways. It is also the source of prophecy, which foretells what will happen in the end times.
The Word of God warns us of the signs of the times, such as wars, famines, pestilences, earthquakes, false prophets, apostasy, lawlessness, and tribulation.
It also assures us of the promises of God, such as the rapture of the church, the second coming of Christ, the resurrection of the dead, the judgment of the wicked, and the new heaven and new earth.
Therefore, as Christians who love God and his Son Jesus Christ, we should be interested in Israel, Jerusalem, and the Word of God.
We should pray for the peace of Jerusalem, support Israel as God’s chosen people, and study the Word of God diligently.
We should also live holy lives before God, understand who we are in Christ Jesus, and be in touch with eternity rather than this earth.
We should also share the gospel with others, especially with our Jewish friends who need to recognize Jesus as their Messiah.
We should do all these things because we are living in the last days of the Church Age. Jesus Christ is coming soon. Are you ready?
