How to Respond to His Voice and Purpose for Your Life

The Bible tells us that God is intimately involved in our lives from the very beginning. In Isaiah 49:1b, the prophet says, “Before I was born the LORD called me; from my mother’s womb He has spoken my name.”

This verse reveals some amazing truths about God’s love and purpose for us.

God calls us before we are born
The word “call” in this verse means to summon, invite, or appoint. It implies that God has a specific plan and destiny for each one of us, even before we see the light of day.

He knows our potential, our gifts, our talents, and our personality. He also knows our challenges, our struggles, our weaknesses, and our sins. Yet He still calls us to Himself, because He loves us unconditionally.

God speaks our name from the womb
The word “name” in this verse means more than just a label or a title. It means our identity, our character, our reputation, and our relationship with God.

It shows that God knows us personally and intimately. He does not see us as a mass of cells or a random product of nature.

He sees us as His beloved children, created in His image and likeness. He speaks our name with affection and care, as a father speaks to his son or daughter.

God is with us throughout our lives
If God is there from the start, why would He ever leave us? The answer is: He never does.

He promises to be with us always, even to the end of the age (Matthew 28:20). He is faithful and true, and He will never forsake us or abandon us.

He is our refuge and strength, our help and hope, our comfort and peace. He is the source of our joy and satisfaction, our purpose and meaning, our salvation and eternal life.

God invites us to respond to His call
Right now, He is with you. He knows your name and calls you to Himself. How will you respond? Will you ignore His voice or listen to His voice?

Will you reject His love or receive His love? Will you resist His will or follow His will? The choice is yours, but remember this: He has already chosen you.

He has already loved you. He has already died for you and risen for you. All He asks is that you trust Him and obey Him.

He wants to give you abundant life here and now, and eternal life hereafter. He wants to make you a blessing to others and a glory to His name. He wants to fulfill His plan and purpose for your life. Will you let Him?
