Expanding the Giving Layer of the Internet — GoFundMe Charity is Here!

And we’re celebrating the launch with a special holiday promotion

Now more than ever, GoFundMe is connected to every news moment, and every media cycle. GoFundMe has become synonymous with giving and helping others in times of need. Rather than passively scrolling through social media feeds and being bombarded with overwhelming news, people are seeking ways to engage with others and find solutions. GoFundMe has become the internet’s “take action” button.

To that end, our vision is to create the Giving Layer of the internet. We want to empower others to help even more people and causes while making fundraising as simple as possible. We want to encourage people to help others and connect them to causes they care about — and we want to do this while removing any friction that gets in their way so that their fundraisers are successful. We take this responsibility very seriously — it’s what brings us all to work every day.

And that’s where GoFundMe Charity comes in

We announced GoFundMe Charity a couple of weeks ago, and in that time, we’ve had thousands of charities join the waitlist. We’re excited to announce today that GoFundMe Charity is now available to everyone. To celebrate, we’re also announcing a special holiday promotion: a low payment processing fee of 1.9% + $.30 per donation for 501(c)(3) organizations using the new software and charity tipping model.

Through GoFundMe Charity, we’re helping nonprofits streamline their fundraising efforts to become more successful. We’re doing this by providing our social fundraising knowledge, giving them the essential tools and software they need, and introducing them to our giving community who has donated hundreds of millions of times before. And we’re doing this all with no subscription fees or contracts. Regardless of size or budget, we want to empower nonprofits to reach new audiences, raise money more efficiently, and further their missions.

It is a game-changer for charities to have access to advanced fundraising software without having to pay your typical SaaS subscription fees, software fees, or add-on costs. Nonprofits will have access to data report centers, ticketing and registration tools, customized branding and campaigns, donation buttons, PCI-compliant security, expert advice, and more. With our intuitive enterprise-level software, nonprofits will be able to spend less time setting up, and more time raising donations.

Expanding the idea of the “take action” Button with the Donate Button by GoFundMe

With this launch, we are also introducing the brand new, Donate Button by GoFundMe, our very first WordPress plugin. The Donate Button allows anyone to have access to the best payment processing and social expertise from anywhere. This gives organizations, corporations, and anyone who wants to raise money on their behalf the ability to add the simple Donate Button to their site—all while being powered by the largest and most trusted social fundraising company. Ultimately, we’re providing our community with another way to give while ensuring they are safe doing so.

There is an incredible opportunity to help more people and causes. At GoFundMe, we want to do everything we can to give individuals and organizations the tools, resources, and support they need to be successful and make a bigger difference.

It’s been a big year, and we’re just getting started

Over the last year, we’ve introduced different ways to help our community. From launching a team fundraising feature so people can fundraise together, to redesigning our site to create the best experience, we are always looking for ways we can make it faster, easier, and more efficient to raise money. This spring, we also introduced GoFundMe.org, the advocacy and charitable arm of GoFundMe that connects people to causes they care about while helping fundraisers reach larger communities. Whether you’re an individual, a team, a corporation, or a non-profit, we recognize the increasing need for effective social fundraising.

We are committed to furthering our vision of creating the Giving Layer of the internet, and we will continue to work hard to provide the best social fundraising tools, resources, and services so you can stay focused on raising funds for the causes you care about most.

Here’s to a successful giving season for all!
