Welcome to Goggo’s newly created blog! Here we discuss and reflect on the future of mobility and what it encompasses. We will share our latest findings and curated opinions from our team composed by global mobility experts, and keep you updated with our latest news. But first of all, let’s introduce Goggo Network.

Goggo was founded in 2018 by serial entrepreneur Martin Varsavsky and ex-McKinsey Associate Partner Yasmine Fage to lead the driverless revolution in order to solve the transportation challenges of today. Our vision is to provide all people with autonomous, electric and shared mobility solutions through the creation of Autonomous Mobility Networks. To achieve this vision, our talented team has raised over €44M in Venture Capital funding so far from Softbank and Axel Springer Ventures.

Autonomous cars will not be just cars, they will be networks

We are currently in the midst of a disruption in urban mobility and general transportation. Technologies that only appeared in sci-fi movies are now becoming a reality: seamless last-mile delivery, driverless vehicles, fully connected fleets… All these examples show that a key transformation is underway and will change our understanding of mobility.

The transition to a new mobility paradigm is becoming more urgent. The increasing fleet of personally-owned cars is becoming less and less sustainable over time, as cars are on average parked 95% of the time. Also, the average occupancy is only 1.2 passengers per trip, leading to hours lost in traffic every year (with a whooping 130 hours of average time that could be saved per year for every person). Not only is it affecting our daily lives, but also it is having implications on the global economy and environment. It is high time for inventing a new transportation system that will make better use of the roads, as they belong to the common good.

New innovations such as electric vehicles, self-driving technology, 5G connectivity, IoT intercommunication or cloud computing are currently enabling the evolution of mobility. At Goggo we believe that future autonomous mobility will operate as a group of interconnected vehicles, a network. A future vehicle in such a network will for instance offer home-to-work commuting in the morning, parcel delivery during off-peak hours, work-to-home commuting in the evening and robotaxi at night. This vision of a versatile fleet of vehicles operating 24/7 to serve different needs of the citizens throughout the day is what we call the Autonomous Mobility Networks (AMNs). We believe that only AMNs will ensure an efficient allocation of resources and space through safe, sustainable, fun and affordable mobility services to all.

Goggo is paving the way of New Mobility Services

At Goggo we plan to lead the driverless revolution by paving the path to the future mobility. We believe that AMNs should be regulated by a framework based on the idea of developing a limited number of national licenses for commercial services. Such a framework will empower the development of European mobility players, hence attracting the investments from European and overseas funds that are currently lacking in Europe. Moreover, it is an opportunity for Europe to set a list of requirements which will ensure safety, universal access, fair competition, efficient allocation of public assets and multidisciplinary collaboration. Thus, our team is working closely with policy makers and governments in Europe to succeed in this new revolution.

In parallel, our team is also partnering with European public transport operators to explore new mobility services for passengers based on connected and self-driving technologies. Furthermore, Goggo will launch and operate autonomous last-mile delivery services very soon, stay tuned!
