Act Green Together

Going Green Together is working with fourteen voluntary, community, and social enterprise organisations across the North East and Cumbria to support them in developing projects to tackle the climate emergency. Working with their local communities, these organisations have been granted dedicated funds to engage under-represented voices in climate action and co-design new projects on areas such as low-carbon transport, sustainable food, biodiversity and climate education. This opportunity was made possible thanks to the support of the National Lottery Community Fund.

The Act Green Together programme was created to provide much-needed support in the development stage of environmental projects, so that organisations who do not typically work in this area can access the time, resources, and knowledge to create a robust foundation for climate action. It also seeks to address questions of climate justice, to make sure underrepresented and disadvantaged groups, such as youth, disabled people and minoritized communities, have a say in the transition to a greener future.

The organisations taking part are as follows:

As the programme progresses, we intend to share more news about these projects and how they are developing, and learn from this opportunity to inform similar programmes in the future.
