Going Green Together is a pilot scheme, funded by the National Lottery Community Fund and County Durham Community Foundation to pave the way to a greener VCSE sector.

Because we’re working to find the best ways to help voluntary, community and social enterprises to become more sustainable and take part in climate action, we wanted to make sure the Going Green Together project is committed to a participatory research approach. Participatory research means that the communities affected by a particular issue are included in the research process. This means that we will be working closely with participants in our programmes to get their feedback and insight into their environmental journeys. Through this, we hope to get as much learning as possible from the pilot scheme, as well as present the knowledge we gain in a useful way for future projects to use.

We are very pleased to have contracted Rocket Science as our participatory research consultants on this project, and are looking forward to working with them over the next year.

Cherri Blisset of Rocket Science comments:

Rocket Science are delighted to be appointed as the evaluation and learning partner for Going Green Together. Rocket Science’s role includes assessing the impact of the diverse climate action interventions of the partnership, developing the partnerships participatory research approaches and sustainably embedding monitoring and evaluation in all Going Green Together interventions.

The approach Rocket Science will take will involve participatory research methods such as developing a partnership scorecard, developing a monitoring and evaluation framework and toolkit, supporting peer learning and providing support to the project team.

The research team includes Cherri Blissett, Laura McGinty and Charlotte Knigge. You will get to met with them at future events, but if you have any questions in advance, please free to get in touch with them.
