Gokada Secures Series A Funding of $5.3 Million
The Green colour has become a major part of this city, Lagos, one that has come to be associated with so many virtues; life, (re)birth, growth: In this case, Gokada, the birth of an outstanding motorcycle taxi brand. Our advent into eTransport industry was to answer two questions; unemployment and transportation and we dare say we’ve begun revamping this narrative.
On the 24th of May 2019, Gokada, the Lagos-based on-demand motorcycle taxi app, closed on a Series A fundraiser of $5.3 million. Gokada will deploy its investment in expanding its driver fleet, increasing daily rides by 10-fold and acquiring local tech talent. In addition, the company will explore new verticals for business growth.
We’ve set the pedestal since launching in 2018. We acquired approximately 1,000 motorcycles that are manned by trained, insured and verified drivers, kitted out with helmets which are DOT (US Department of Transportation) approved and certified. We have completed nearly one million rides since inception, getting riders to their destination 50% quicker than other means of transportation.
With this funding, we are about to raise this pedestal even higher. We are excited about what the future holds, and we believe it’s limitless. Our entry into the eTransport industry has brought about change, a stir, an evolution, the tale of two-wheeled transportation hasn’t remained the same.
Cheers to us.
