Zaika started with 90% of their customers being Indian. However, due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on their business, they lost a lot of their customers as restaurants were shut and Zaika had no online presence.
Zaika decided to go digital and relied on Gokada as their means for delivering. Their customer dynamics changed shortly after, with Nigerians now constituting 70% of their customers.
This sharp change opened their eyes to the potential to cater to their Nigerian audience, who are always happy to try their cuisine. To make it more suitable to the Nigerian palate, Zaika altered their recipes to fit in with the Nigerian culture whilst retaining their Indian tradition. They are currently ranked as the best Indian and Chinese restaurant in Lagos.
