In 2020, World Teacher’s Day focuses on the promise of “Teachers: Leading in crisis, reimagining the future”. Today, teachers are celebrated all over the world. Taking this opportunity to commemorate their achievements and draw attention to their voices is our moral duty. They are consistently at the center of efforts to achieve the goal of global education, where no one is left behind.

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought great challenges to education systems, and today, more than ever, it’s necessary to work with teachers to protect the right to education at any age or area of education.

Who are Gokada’s teachers? What is their purpose?

Our training team are teachers, not just trainers. They don’t just train pilots, they help them grow. They pick them up when they fall down, and they dust them off to start a new day. They teach them right from wrong. They prepare them for all circumstances they face just like our parents prepare us for facing life.

The Gokada Training Program highlights 6 key models with the top 3 focused on Customer Service, Delivery Safety, and Bike Maintenance. The pilots collaborate among themselves and with the training group to reach optimal solutions, growth, and maximize problem-solving.

Odimayo Babatunde, Head of Training

Gokada rider exams are harder than most exams in Lagos. But the team builds our pilots through connection and pilot feedback. This training team takes pride and passion with each batch of pilots that work with them.

As Tunde, one of our trainers, states, “Pilot Feedback is what’s most important. That’s how we train better.” Because at Gokada, this is our team’s motto: People know the best way they learn.

With the onset of the global pandemic, our training team has made it their responsibility to step up and work with the pilots to teach them the importance of social distancing, masks, and sanitization. Each pilot has a mandatory mask, hand sanitizer, and must keep 6 feet distance from the customer when doing final delivery or have a no-contact delivery communication.

Pilots are geared up and ready to deliver all 7 days a week. The training team emphasizes the value stated through the social responsibility of the pilots towards the people of Lagos during this intense period.

Kartikey Bhatia, Gokada’s Social Media Lead, knows the importance of teachers, having had across the spectrum of his journey who have impacted his personality, decisions, ideologies, and beliefs, and individuality.

During my life, my teachers were my parents, grandparents, cousins, uncles, colleagues, school and college professors, and employers. I received more than academy education from them, I learned about life, values, right from wrong, and how to deal with situations, the real essence of what it means to be a teacher”. Kartikey Bhatia.

This World Teacher’s Day, think about the teachers in your life. How have they impacted you? How have they impacted your decisions? We encourage all of you to pick up the phone, and call at least 1 or 2 of your teachers to ask how they’re doing. Where are they these days? It is crucial to have that connection with your teachers that you have with your parents because always remember that they were, and continue to be, instrumental in your life’s journey.
