With the newly launched Ships of Fortune update, there’s plenty of new cosmetics to earn from the Pirate Emporium, Black Market, and Trading Companies. But most importantly, there’s CATS. Read on for a summary of every new cosmetic in Sea of Thieves
Outpost Shops
- The Pirate Legend and Ghost cosmetic sets (exclusive to Pirate Legends) have been fleshed out with more items for sale in the Pirate Legend Tavern. Many of these are unlocked by leveling up Athena’s Fortune reputation, which now goes to Rank 20 instead of stopping at 10.
- The Gold Hoarders, Merchant Alliance, Order of Souls, Athena’s Fortune and brand new Reaper’s Bones trading companies have company “Costumes” available for purchase. You first must buy that company’s Emissary Flag (for 20,000 Gold), and then the costume is 68,300 Gold.
- The Gold Hoarders, Merchant Alliance, and Order of Souls companies have raised their Reputation maximum to Rank 75 instead of Rank 50, and at each 5 Rank interval you can unlock parts of that company’s Ship cosmetics (they cost 69,550 Gold each).
- The new Reaper’s Bones trading company sells ship parts at each 5 Rank interval as well, beginning with increasingly more prestigious “versions” of the Reaper Cannons and Figurehead.
Bilge Rat’s Black Market
Accessed by talking to the Bilge Rat in any Tavern, the Black Market is a place to spend Doubloons and Gold on limited time voyages, cosmetic items, and more.
Black Market Archive
Cosmetics that appear new in the Black Market will be featured for one monthly update at a slightly discounted price, and upon the next update are moved to the Black Market Archive, where every Black Market cosmetic remains permanently albeit at a slightly higher price than originally.

What are Doubloons?
Bilge Rat Doubloons are a Black Market exclusive currency, earned by completing event challenges or selling rare loot to the tavern Bilge Rat. Here’s a collection of guides on previous events and which rewards you can still earn.
Recurring Stock
With Doubloons, you can purchase bags of regular gold, and “Letters of Recommendation” which increase Reputation one level in various trading companies. You can also buy an “Athena’s Run of Thieves Haven” for 50 Doubloons. For Doubloons or Gold, there are special “Stash Voyages”, which are a fast (but expensive!) way to quickly unearth a Ritual Skull (to activate the Fort of the Damned) or an Ashen Key or Chest (for Ashen Treasures rewards).

The Pirate Emporium
The Pirate Emporium contains exclusive cosmetic items, including Pets, Seasonal Items, Charity Items, Ships, and Emotes, but only accepts Ancient Coins, a premium (real world money) currency.
You can find the Emporium shop in the upper right of the front end Main Menu, on outposts in Adventure Mode above the Order of Souls booth, and at a desk in the Arena’s Sea Dogs Tavern.
Ancient Coins
Ancient Coins can be acquired in two ways:
- Purchased using real world currency from the Emporium menu:
2. Earned by defeating the rare “Ancient Skeleton” found in game. This skeleton has a small chance of rising from the ground in both Adventure and Arena mode, and will immediately turn and run away. After some time it will return to the Earth and you’ll have missed out- but if you manage to kill it you’ll earn a random amount of Ancient Coins (roughly 100 all the way to 600 Ancient Coins!)
Pets
A new type of Pet has been added — Cats! There are three breeds of Cat available, the rugged Wildcat, the smooth Mau, and the extremely fluffy Ragamuffin. These are priced the same as the other pets, but also come bundled together for 1249 AC — which is an excellent price as you get three cats and three outfits for a much discounted amount.
The Pirate Emporium is the only place to purchase piratey animal companions, which also includes Monkeys (Capuchins, Barbaries, and Marmosets) and Parrots (Macaws, Parakeets, and Cockatoos), each in a variety of colors. Once you purchase a pet you can access a selection of pet outfits.
