Dogs and Gold to Behold

With the Gamescom2020 event underway, we’ve seen some reveals and teases of what’s to come in Sea of Thieves- along with the launch of the live Hunters of the Deep event. Read on for a summary of the latest Sea of Thieves news!

Gamescom Reveals

Along with a spiffy poem and a short teaser video posted on social media, Rare has begun teasing the content of their September update, before a more broad glimpse they gave in a Gamescom 2020 interview with IGN:

• Steam players make up 20–30% of Monthly Active Users
• The team gets questions for launching on other platforms, but the number one priority is that they still be connected to the crossplay pool of the entire player base
• DOGS are coming to the Pirate Emporium in September’s Update!
• DOGS CAN PEE
• A permanent new Gold Hoarder Voyage is coming in September.

Along with the previous teases, it appears Gold Hoarders are now, uh, Hoarding Gold in the Ancient Puzzle Vaults seen in Tall Tales. Through some kind of clue gathering, we will be able to gain access to these vaults, which have been retrofitted with scaffolding, planks, and ladders to expand their surface area and become FILLED with piles of gold and treasure chests. More information will be shared at a later date.

Lasting from August 19th to September 30th, this large collection of in game challenges will reward you with Gold, Doubloons, Titles, and exclusive Cosmetics! Take a look at our full guide to get started.

Hunters of the Deep

Running from August 26th 01:00am BST until September 9th 12:59am BST, the Hunters of the Deep tasks you with taking on those toothy sharks. Completing a mix of one-off and repeatable tasks will earn you “Shark Teeth”, a point system that will net you some sharp new Ship Cosmetics at each point threshold. Battletoads Ship Reward

The latest game from Rare’s Battletoads IP has launched for Xbox, Windows, Steam, and Xbox Game Pass, and if you manage to play through the first Act of the game, you’ll be rewarded with a hopping new Sea of Thieves ship set!
