The latest update to Sea of Thieves Season 10 is here, and along with new Pirate Emporium cosmetics comes a new game mode in Safer Seas. Finally players have the option to sail in a private world with no competing crews- within some limitations of course. Read on for everything new in this game Update!

Safer Seas

When launching in to play Sea of Thieves, players will now find two world options to enter: “High Seas” and “Safer Seas”. High Seas is the same game mode that players have always played before, but Safer Seas is a new private game world where players can join a crew of just their friends and experience the game without competing crews on the seas. Here players can complete voyages, battle world events, experience Tall Tales, earn cosmetics, and more- but there are some limits too.

What are the limitations?

Sailing in Safer Seas comes with some downsides which encourage players to choose High Seas in some circumstances:

  • Reputation & Gold earned in Safer Seas is worth 30% the value it would earn in the more dangerous High Seas. Season Renown can still be earned at a normal rate.
  • Progression is capped at Reputation level 40 in the core trading companies. Players cannot reach Pirate Legend in Safer Seas. Players cannot progress Athena’s Fortune or Reaper’s Bones
  • Players cannot become Emissaries, or participate in Captaincy, Guilds, or Faction battles

In spite of these limits, Safer Seas is a great way for players to experience a more relaxed Sea of Thieves experience and still engage in many game features.

Pirate Emporium Refresh
