It’s time to give with the Festival of Giving, and what better gift to receive than that of a round-up of the Lore that has surfaced in December’s Content Update?
This is our Monthly feature that catalogs new dialogue and updates to the game’s ever evolving story!

Not sure what’s been happening up until this point? Need a refresher? Then check out the previous Lore posts from the last few months

Larinna’s Lore Gifts

The lovely Larinna has much to explain

Here Larinna reflects on what happened during the last Festival of Giving, where Duke was indisposed and Stitcher Jim took over his post. (Speaking of, we never did learn explicitly what was in those Gift.)
It also hints at a little possibility that Larinna and the Bilge Rats are the ones responsible for the Events on an in-universe level.

Larinna appears to have softened up on Duke’s antics and behaviour, in some ways forgiving him for what he’s got himself involved in. Clearly she has some fondness for him. But still, she seems adamant he must find his own way, and his own purpose.

Larinna is still digging up stuff that Duke hid, which begs the question… just where did he stash that stuff?! In the attic of the Tavern, did he have a home somewhere, on a random island? We may never know…

The Gift of Duke

Go on, give him a hug!

Duke is still chilling out on the Lagoon of Whispers and the time spent sober and in the fresh air seems to be doing him good. Here he contemplates the nature of The Ferryman and of everyone’s true purpose in the Sea of Thieves; Stories.

The Ferryman’s Ominous Warning

Sneaking in under the radar of the living is a slight change to the dialogue from our good friend The Ferryman.

As Duke waxes poetic about the reason The Ferryman saves us… here is The Ferryman in his own words about why he saves us. Or well, that we perceive to be saved from him. He seems to be acutely aware of happenings that are to befall the Sea of Thieves… Is this connected to the puppeteer behind the events of the Skellies plotting to bring Graymarrow back? Or does he know what Stitcher Jim and the Masked Stranger have been working since we last saw them in Heart of Fire?

Either way, we should heed this as a warning.

Although a brief one this month, there are a lot of little tidbits that indicate changes that will no doubt come to the Seas in due time. The big question is what will Duke next as he seems more optimistic about his purpose now.
