With Season Eleven of Sea of Thieves, a fundamental change has come to the ship’s “Quest Table”, reworking the way all of the game’s voyages are accessed and progressed. For players new and old, this handy guide walks through all the basics, including selecting voyages from the Quest Table, the new revamped progression in Trading Companies, and the new kinds of loot and voyages to discover!

Play What You Want, When You Want

Voyages, Tall Tales, and even World Events, are all now begun through a new menu accessed at the Quest Table on your Ship. For veteran players, the Quest Table is what used to be called the Captain’s Table.

  • From this menu, players can now choose the exact type of voyage they want to complete, and see the time length of the voyage.
  • Some voyage options (including Raid Voyages, discussed in more detail below) are locked until a player levels up their reputation with that Trading Company
  • While voyages are no longer acquired from Trading Company Representatives at their various stalls on the Outpost, players can still hand in loot to these representatives, must purchase Emissary Licenses and Company Promotions as they level up, and access a new shop of their company exclusive cosmetics.

When selecting a voyage, players can either choose to Embark on a Voyage or Dive to a Voyage.

EMBARKING- acts the same as starting a voyage always has. You’ll receive the necessary notes/maps in your inventory, and then can set sail to your destination.

DIVING- this new feature allows your ship to dive beneath the waves (after sailing out into open water away from the outpost’s shallow shores), where you’ll eventually resurface. You’ll arrive on a new server, and also near the first island you need to visit on your voyage or tale!
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you dive with treasure aboard, you will LOSE THE LOOT. You still need to sail back to outpost to cash it in the old fashioned way!

Raid Voyages

  • New “Raid Voyages” allow pirates to Dive directly to World Events entirely on demand. Skeleton Forts, Skelly Ship Battles, Ashen Winds, Sea Forts, and more! (Fort of the Damned and Fort of Fortune are NOT included as on demand options)
  • When diving to a Raid event, other crews will not be there when you arrive and none will “surface” from the waves to challenge you. But other crews sailing nearby can still come to challenge you!
  • World Events will still spawn emergently in the world for all players. Choosing to Dive directly to a “Raid Voyage” version of the Event will produce lower value loot, and loot themed for a specific trading company rather than a mixed selection.

Discover Tab

From the Quest Table’s main menu, you can view a new ‘Discover’ Tab. This tab features:

  • A recommendation system that will suggest voyages based on your play style
  • A Random option for pirates that want to go anywhere the wind takes them
  • Highlighting of voyages you’ve just recently unlocked or are part of time limited game events
  • Tips and tutorials for pirates on all parts of their Pirate Legend journey

Trading Company Reputation REVAMPED

Leveling up through the Trading Companies has seen a bit of an revitalization as well!

  • Players now earn a bit of company Reputation each time they progress a voyage, not just from handing in the loot at the end! But of course the loot is more valuable
  • The Reputation level caps for Gold Hoarders, Merchant Alliance, Order of Souls, and Reaper’s Bones have all been expanded to a new max of 100
  • As players level up to these higher levels, they’ll unlock a range of new cosmetics for that Trading Company.

But that’s not the end, as pirates that reach “max level” can go through the process over and over again with a new system called earning “Distinctions”

Trading Company DISTINCTIONS

When a player reaches level 100 in a Trading Company’s Reputation, they can now earn a Distinction.

  • Once a Distinction is earned, the Trading Company level resets back to 1, allowing a pirate to do their leveling up all over again if they wish!
  • The cosmetics and voyage types you’ve already unlocked are NOT RESET, so you keep the progress you’ve earned! But you’ll be able to earn new rewards by leveling up the company again
  • Each Distinction a player earns unlocks a new kind of cosmetic: Rings. Rings visually represent the trading company they’re earned for, and they can be equipped to either of the pirate’s hands from the vanity chest.
  • Five Distinctions can be earned per company, giving dedicated players new longterm goals to accomplish. Thus 5 unique Rings per company can be unlocked.

New Look New Loot

With a renewed focus on Trading Company progression and voyages, those voyages have been spruced up with new exclusive types of loot.

  • Players can still level up with the companies without doing voyages, instead collecting loot in other ways
  • However, the exclusive types of loot found in voyages have their own Commendations to track, with rewards to unlock.
  • All voyages have been rebalanced to improve the experience and make them more rewarding. Emergent opportunities like shipwrecks, messages in a bottle, and random Skeleton Captains have been similarly improved, and ALSO have their own exclusive loot types (and commendations) to discover!
  • IMPORTANT NOTE: Emissary Quests (earned by reaching Grade 5 as an emissary during a session), along with being improved will now no longer be accessible after a crew sinks or lowers their Emissary Flag!!
Hoarder’s Reliquaries, Scrolls, and the Eye of Souls are new items exclusive to RAID VOYAGES for their respective companies

New Voyages

Along with all of the above changes, players will find a range of new voyage variations while browsing the Quest Table’s offerings

Onboarding For New or Returning Players

The Gold Hoarders, Order of Souls, and Merchant’s Alliance have new Tutorial Voyages that outline the activities unique to that Company. These Tutorials can be replayed at any time.

Bounty for a Skeleton Lord

Fight through waves of Skeletons to draw out the location of a fearsome Skeleton Lord, and earning valuable Dark Relics along the way.

Ashen Ghost Fleet

A Ghost Ship Battle taking place around one of the islands in the Devil’s Roar

Ashen Lost Shipments Voyage

An ashen take on the Lost Shipments voyage, set in the Devil’s Roar and with Ashen Loot rewards

Medley Voyages

These Voyages consist of a mixed variety of a company’s various voyage types

Emissary Voyages for the Devil’s Roar

Upon reaching Grade 5 Emissary, pirates that pick up their Emissary Voyage specifically from the representative on Morrow’s Peak Outpost will be treated to an Ashen variety of the usual Emissary Quests
