Welcome Nick Chen!
The venture capital landscape is increasingly complex and rapidly evolving, with emerging technologies reshaping industries and creating new investment opportunities. As a fund, we always seek to deepen and diversify our expertise and coverage across these developing areas. Having breadth and depth of knowledge equips us to identify promising startups, lead more impactful deals, and focus on providing our founders with the highest level of support possible.
We’re excited to announce and welcome Nick Chen as our newest team member. Nick is joining us as a Principal on our Investment Team, leveraging his previous experience in venture capital and as an operator to help find, invest in and support companies in the Golden Ventures portfolio. His primary focus areas will be Applied AI/ML, AI Infrastructure, and Web3.
Nick began his venture career at Georgian, an R&D-focused, growth-stage VC firm. Over his six-year tenure, he led the development of key investment theses around Applied AI and Trust. He also pioneered the firm’s research and investment efforts into Web3. He played a critical role in institutionalizing the “Pathfinder” program, aimed at investing in early-stage emerging technology deals across key fund thesis areas.
More recently, Nick established and led the venture capital arm at IEX, a top-5 US stock exchange and played a pivotal role in shaping the company’s entry into the digital assets market. He was instrumental in setting up multiple business units– including Dispatch, a cutting-edge distributed communications and e-commerce platform.
His exposure to frontier technologies has helped him create an overarching framework focused on sustainable value creation in emerging technology areas such as Generative AI and Web3. In the coming months, he will continue to develop, share, invest, and leverage his unique insights to support Golden’s portfolio.
