The Barbados Cabinet has approved a new National Climate Change Policy.

The policy is aimed at setting up a national process for adapting to the effects of climate change and to minimize greenhouse gases over the near and long term. It will aim to do so in a way which is consistent with Barbados’ broader sustainable development objectives.

Nationally, the plan aims to continue institutional, administrative and legislative improvements to mitigate climate change as Barbados adapts to a new green economy.

In its latest green move, Cabinet has approved the development of a $377 million dollar green energy complex, the centrepiece of which will transform solid waste into energy via a waste to energy plant.
