Some common golf lingo that most golfers use on the course include:

  • “Fore!” — shouted as a warning when a golfer’s ball is heading towards other players
  • “Birdie” — one stroke under par on a hole
  • “Bogey” — one stroke over par on a hole
  • “Eagle” — two strokes under par on a hole
  • “Par” — the number of strokes a golfer is expected to take on a hole or course
  • “Mulligan” — a do-over on a stroke, typically not allowed in official play
  • “Sandbagger” — a golfer who consistently scores much lower than their skill level
  • “Green” — the area of the hole where the hole is located
  • “Tee” — the starting point for a hole.
  • “Fairway” — the short-grass area between the tee and the green
  • “Rough” — the tall grass or bushes that border the fairway
  • “Bunker” — a sand-filled depression on the course
  • “Out of bounds” — when a ball goes over the edge of the course and is not playable.
  • “Hazard” — anything on the course that can cause trouble for a golfer, such as a bunker, water, or a large tree.

Golf is the closest game to the game we call life. U get bad breaks from good shots; U get good breaks from bad shots, but U have to play the ball where it lies
