In the previous article of our Scaling Series, we told you about how we were using our lockdown time to improve and maintain our existing tech products. Since then we have begun operations with relevant safety precautions and are well on our way on the road to recovery post COVID’s impact on business.

New Website & Newer Heights!

Since the new website launch, there’s been almost 160% jump in website bookings (April month booking not considered for this calculation because of lockdown).

How We Did It?

Below are some of the major tweaks that helped us see an improvement in the traffic.

Semantic Content

Google loves semantic content, Pages with Videos, FAQs tend to rank better than pages without semantic content.

Service Videos
We recently added a video section on the service page so that users can easily get an overview of corresponding services, service checklist and workshop conditions within a very short time frame. Explainer videos are a great way of building trust, especially when your business is operations heavy.

We recently added a few topics on our blog, which a user typically looks for while booking a specific service. It also helps in internal linking and driving additional traffic to existing content.

GoMechanic Luxe & Popular Services:

GoMechanic Luxe is a set of flagship workshops for luxury car brands like Mercedes, Audi, BMW & so on. These workshops have highly trained mechanics, state of the art technology and offer customers many perks including service warranty.

Popular Services section shows cards of popular services, Since images are better to navigate user to exact service requirement. It’s a good idea to display your popular services to the user as they might not know what exactly he/she wants, these cards aid in discovery.

UX Enhancements

For the love of Shimmer:

In the current lifestyle of instant gratification and reduced attention span, our Skeleton Screen leverages motion (Left to Right to follow the natural eye movement) while loading which helps in decreasing the perceived page load time.

Skeleton Screen or False Loading Effect is generally better received while page loads in-comparison to spinner.

Fun Fact: Apart from the skeleton screens we have also added fun facts to command attention of the user while the page is loading.

Added Filter, Subcategory and Booster

Filter: Filter is a staple requirement for most businesses, it helps in providing personalized experience for user based on inputs (filters applied) .

Subcategories: Users can now access an element of interest in the navigation tabs with zero efforts. So one can jump across pages within the same section. Minimum Interaction Cost & Discoverability, few core benefits of subcategories.

Booster: as the name suggests, it’s a revenue booster which helps incredibly in upselling, for example getting to choosing engine flush or just having the freedom to customise an order.

First made popular by Snapchat, Instagram and Facebook, there’s a reason for the appeal of stories, they give you additional information without the user have to take any action (thanks to autoscroll).

Order Tracking

The idea is that user can get both live order tracking as well as history of their previous transactions. So it will be easier for a customer to remember when the last service was done and when the next one will be due.

We’ve added banners to redirect user to the app with an additional discount. The user gets a discount while we get a user with a higher retention and we can reach them easily with push notifications.

New Releases

We have recently launched some new verticals, and wide assortments build trust with users. At the same time, we make sure to not forget our core use case of making car service smart & easier for everyone.

Store Locator

We have created store locator pages utilising existing Google My Business data via GMB API. Gagandeep Singh has explained it quite well in this post.

GoMechanic Bike Service App

With a vision to cater to the entire passenger mobility space, post our geographic expansion to 12+ cities and an existing network of 300+ partners across India. We decided to explore the 2 wheeler segment, a market space of ~10$ Billion.

  • Based on a survey for 10,000 customers and a pilot in Gurgaon with B2B players like: Rapido, Dunzo, we came to know customers are missing out on both quality and transparency- in terms of genuine spare parts and limited to no options to claim insurances apart from authorised centres.
  • We decided to create a network of multi-brand repair centres to eradicate the hassles - defective parts, theft, questionable charges, false promises, delays - that inevitably crop up during automobile servicing.
  • Genuine, transparent, better, and timely two-wheeler servicing has become the prominent need of the hour.
  • Soon launching a separate Android app - GoMechanic Bikes and eyeing expansion to 3 more cities.

GoMechanic Car Accessories

GoMechanic’s ultimate goal has always been to provide a seamless experience and impeccable satisfaction to their customers. We want the name “GoMechanic” to become synonymous with automobiles, keeping this in mind We launched accessories with the idea of becoming a one-stop destination for all the automobile-related queries & requirements.

The inception of Car Accessories vertical came with the hypothesis that there is no singular car accessories brand which provides all car accessories products under one umbrella. Also there is a huge trust deficit between the kind of products sold in the market and buyers perceived quality of the same.

We not only want to bridge that gap but also provide high quality affordable products at a reasonable price. It will not only increase the frequency at which users purchase from us but also give us immense cross selling opportunities by pitching accessories to our service customers and vice versa.

Since we own a network of 300+ workshops, it also gives a huge opportunity for our workshop owners to increase their earning potential by utilising similar space.

GoMechanic Spares Retail

GoMechanic is focused on helping each stakeholder in the automotive industry. Since launching our spares procurement and supply division, we have been getting requests from spare parts dealers from all across India to avail our services.

We have launched our spare parts marketplace for our spare parts dealer partners. We offer them-
