Museum of Old and New Art

A winning gambler’s fabulous juxtaposition of ancient and modern art and reason enough to take a one hour flight from Melbourne to Hobart.

My favorite was this rug by Azerbaijani designer Faig Ahmed. So creative!

Real Porsche “supersized” with vinyl and fiberglass. Even the leather seats were overstuffed.
A machine called Cloaca that ‘eats’ food and water and excretes waste out the other end (promptly at 2PM each day).

Hiking Mount Wellington: running from the chill of the pinnacle where only shrubs grow to the warmer lower realms where lofty eucalyptus reign

Mount Wellington in Hobart, Tazmania

Unzoo Tasmanian Devil Sanctuary:

feeding Eastern grey kangaroos, grey geese, and smaller pademelons by hand, watching Tasmanian devils devour meat, bones and all, and squabble over the bits

Counting road kill on the way to the Unzoo: 59 dead animals along 54 miles of road = “what a healthy wild animal population!” says the wildlife conservationist (but photographing this population will not be my new art project for olfactory reasons)

And Pepper’s lyrical skills got two tryouts

At the Tessellated Pavement
At the Hobart airport
