2018 Honda CR-V launched in India

Honda has launched the 5th-generation CR-V today in India. With a lot of features and updates, this SUV is now much bigger than the previous version and looks muscular as well. Honda is offering a 5-seater variant as well as 7-seater variant. But the 7-seater is only available with the diesel engine variants.

The front end gets the Signature Chrome Grille, Full LED Automatic headlights, LED DRLs, LED Fog lamps with chrome accents. The rear end comes with the LED Tail & Brake Lights, LED High Mount Stop lamp, tailgate spoiler and a horizontal chrome strip between both the taillights.

On the inside, the SUV gets a wood finish on dashboard & doors, premium ivory leather upholstery and gets buttons instead of agear lever. It also comes equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 8 speakers including 4 tweeters, push-button start, 3-spoke Leather Steering Wheel, dual-zone climate control and 8-way adjustable driver seat.

Other features offered include the electric parking brake, shark fin antenna, rear AC vents, auto rain sensing front wipers, paddle shifters, ORVMs with LED Turn indicators, Panoramic Sunroof and an AWD exclusively for Diesel variants.

Safety features on offer include dual airbags for driver & passenger, front side airbags, curtain airbags, vehicle stability assist, ABS with EBD, brake assist, hill start assist, lane watch camera (first-in-segment), ISO-FIX child seat anchorage, rear parking sensors, driver & passenger seat belt reminder, multi-view reverse camera among others.

The SUV measures 4592 in length, 1855 in Width and 1679 in Height. The wheelbase measures 2660 mm. The AWD variants are 10 mm taller than the other variants. It rides on 18-inch diamond cut Alloy wheels. Honda offers a fuel tank capacity of 57 litres.

The new CR-V comes with 2 engine options — Petrol and Diesel. The petrol engine is a 2 L, 4-cylinder SOHC i-VTEC engine and the diesel mill is a1.6 L, 4-cylinder DOHC i-DTEC engine. The petrol gets a CVT and the diesel comes with a 9-speed AT with paddle shifters. The diesel also gets the AWD.

The 5th-gen CR-V is competing with the likes of Volkswagen Tiguan, Mitsubishi Outlander, Skoda Kodiaq, Hyundai Tucson and Jeep Compass.

The starting price for the CR-V is — INR 28.15 lacs for petrol 2WD, INR 30.65 lacs for the diesel 2WD and INR 32.75 lacs for diesel with 4WD (ex-showroom, India).
